The Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Loyola University Chicago seeks applications for a full-time tenure track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree and have demonstrated a strong record of research productivity. Candidates who have a research focus in immunology and have external funding are preferred.

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology (www.luc.edu/microimmuno) includes fifteen primary faculty devoted to NIH-funded activities in molecular and cellular immunology, virus and bacterial structure, function, and pathogenesis, and cell biology. We are closely aligned with the Infectious Disease and Immunology Research Institute, and we have a strong graduate training program. The department is situated in the Health Sciences Campus in Maywood, IL, about ten miles west of downtown Chicago. Our research enterprise is in a phase of expansion including a recent move to a new, state-of-the-art research building. Research at our campus is supported by a variety of core facilities. The numerous formal and informal seminars and presentations in our department foster a highly-interactive research environment that helps us to continue building an internationally-recognized department.

The department requires faculty commitment to graduate education, mentorship, service and scholarly activity. Successful candidates will be expected to establish and maintain an independent, externally funded research program. Candidates will be expected to participate in teaching graduate and medical students.
