Postdoctoral positions are available immediately in Dr. Andrei Medvedev’s lab, Department of Immunology, University of Connecticut Health Center (UCHC), Farmington, CT to work in the areas of innate immunity, Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling and host-pathogen interactions. Research projects focus on the mechanisms of regulation of macrophage functions by phosphatases and E3 ubiquitin ligases Pellinos in settings of infection, sepsis and autoimmunity. Other projects aim to understand how mutations in TLR2, TLR4 and IRAK kinases alter innate responses, and to develop small molecule- and peptide-based mimics and antagonists for intervention and correction of deregulated TLR signal transduction in sepsis and autoimmunity.

Successful candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in immunology, biochemistry, or related disciplines. They should have experience in cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, and immunology, strongly motivated, and thinking independently. The positions require lab techniques including, but not limited to: cell culture, FACS analysis, transient/stable transfection, luciferase reporter assays, immunoprecipitation and Western blotting, RT-PCR, cloning and sequencing, gel shift assays, in vitro kinase assays and bacterial infections in vitro and in vivo. Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills are desirable.
