Trudeau Institute. Inc., in Saranac Lake, NY has an exciting opportunity for a leading role in translational, global health immunology focusing on infectious diseases including flaviviruses, TB and other serious infectious threats. This translational immunology position develops and implements a clinical research strategy for multi-institute research teams focused on infectious diseases and Global Health. This individual will provide leading input into the strategy and execution of immunological analyses of human samples and also contribute to the development of translational animal models. This individual will interact with cross-functional multi-institutional Trudeau Research Network Teams in close collaboration with other PIs in pre-clinical research and clinicians (MD and MD/Ph.D.) in the areas of vaccine development and experimental therapeutics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish a state of the art human immunology laboratory
- Establish and implement laboratory protocols and SOPs that meet regulatory agency requirements
- Set up assays to analyze existing human samples (e.g. whole blood, serum, plasma, urine or other body fluids) for a variety of immunological parameters
- Identify and validate biomarkers which correlate with disease progression and/or immune status
- Analyze samples from vaccine trials and identify correlates of protection
- Develop diagnostic tools and bioassays and deploy them to increase immunological insight in the prospective design of clinical research
- Contribute to the development of new animal models for drug and vaccine testing.
- Ability to critically analyze, summarize relevant data, integrate data across multiple platforms and present the results in internal and external meetings with senior principal investigators, key partners, and sponsors
- Generate documents for regulatory submissions
- Participate as a key translational immunology expert in coordinated Global Health clinical studies as well as in industry and academic consortia and contribute to high impact clinical research
Preferred candidates will hold a Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. with 4+ years of direct experience in design and execution of analysis of human samples for clinical research, flow cytometry and serology, development, optimization and validation of bio-assays, development and testing of vaccine formulations and/or therapeutic interventions and knowledge of regulatory requirements for the development of clinical research.
