Research Description
A postdoctoral position is available in the Infectious and Inflammatory Disease Center in the laboratory of Dr. Carl Ware at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute in La Jolla, CA. The Ware laboratory’s research focuses on the TNF cytokine superfamily and their role in immune development, autoimmunity, host response to viral pathogens and cancer. Successful candidates will work on in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo models to better understand the role of these pathways in disease with one goal of identifying potential therapeutic targets. Projects may include collaborative translational studies on candidate biologic therapeutics with Pharma R&D teams.

Requirements
Highly motivated candidates with a Ph.D. and a strong background in molecular and cellular immunology are encouraged to apply. Previous experience with mouse models is essential; working knowledge of models for autoimmune diseases is desired and familiarity carcinogenesis and immune regulation of cancer a plus. Experience with virus models, cellular immunological assays, flow cytometry and standard cellular and molecular biology techniques is strongly desired. Candidates must have good communication skills, a strong publication record and should be able to work both independently and in a collaborative scientific environment.
